The deadline to enroll for Covered California without penalty is drawing near and representatives from the state’s health benefit exchange will be helping students fill out their applications at the Hub in the Student Center on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Gloria Powell, a registered nurse and Covered California volunteer said it is super important that students sign up before the March 31 deadline.
Students are encouraged to bring their laptops or tablets so they can fill out the application and receive step by step help from the volunteers.
Those who want to enroll will need to bring their California driver’s license, social security card and permanent resident card with them.
Aside from that, students must bring proof of income such as their W-2 1040 form and information about their current health insurance.
If the student is married they will need to have the information about their spouse as well.
“The process should take around 20 to 30 minutes. Thats if the website is working properly,” she joked.
There have been numerous events and workshops to help students with the process and answer questions at American River College this semester, but Powell said that Thursday’s event will be one of the last opportunities on campus.
