The Sacramento State football team has been successful in recent years, dating back to the 2021 season. Their games are easily accessible to the fans, as the majority of Sac State football games are broadcast on TV channel KMAX 31.

Sac State football games have been on KMAX 31 since 2019 and the team has enjoyed its partnership with the network. The team was given the opportunity to be broadcast on ESPN2 in 2022 and in 2023, according to Brian Berger, assistant athletic director for communications at Sac State.

The Sac State football team plays in the Football Championship Subdivision and is part of the Big Sky Conference. The team secured back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022. In the 2022 season, they went undefeated, finishing 11-0 while also claiming the championship.

Berger said that Sac State football has a deal with ESPN2 that allows two of their games to air on that network annually. Those two games are picked by the conference office. 

The Big Sky Conference is the only subdivision to have a deal of this nature, showing their status as one of the premiere FCS conferences in the nation. 

ESPN2’s decision to broadcast Sac State Football games later in the night makes the partnership between Sac State football and ESPN2 perfect for fans, allowing them to kick off their weekend with exciting college football action. 

Meanwhile, American River College broadcasts its football games on the American River College Athletic YouTube channel. ARC football games are also free to attend in person. 

Both the Sac State and ARC football teams are successful programs that regularly compete for championships in different conferences.
