American River College is partnering with SAFE Credit Union to host a “Mindfulness and Money” event for all students on Sept. 9 at 12:15 p.m.

According to the ARC website’s Events page, the workshop will provide information regarding money mindsets, and prevalent thoughts about money. It will also cover emotional triggers that can lead to spending, and provide ideas for ways to avoid unnecessary purchases.

Gina Richardson, a certified financial educator and change agent from SAFE Credit Union, will speak during the workshop.

According to Richardson, college students are learning so many things that they’ll use for the rest of their lives, from academic subjects to important life skills.

“One of those skills is healthy financial habits,” Richardson said in an email to the Current. “If you can learn that now, you will be on your way to a more financially healthy life. In this workshop, I explain how to be mindful about your money by having a plan for how you will use every dollar.”

This workshop is a safe place for you to learn and ask questions about your financial journey. Richardson says, adding that, there’s no judgment, just a lot of support and information.
