The Weeks of Welcome is an event that spans multiple weeks and encourages students to get familiar with the American River College campus.
According to a flyer sent out by Mario Rodriguez, a Student Personnel Assistant for Student Services, one feature during week two of Weeks of Welcome is the Welcome Back Event on Wednesday, Jan. 29 from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.
The event will take place in the Community Rooms 1 and 2 and will be hosted by the Pride Center. The event will also include games and snacks.
According to another flyer sent by Rodriguez, another event taking place during Weeks of Welcome is the Break-FEST event, which will take place in the Center for Leadership and Development on Thursday, Jan. 30, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
During this event, students can meet with the Student Senate as well as the Clubs and Events Board, and share ideas about what should happen in the CLD. While there, students can enjoy coffee, donuts and bagels.
“Getting our students involved and connected the first couple of weeks of school is important, because it allows students to have a sense of belonging,” Rodriguez said. “It also can encourage them to get connected to be leaders or join a club on this campus.”
According to Rodriguez, these events will allow new and returning students to get involved in some of the 50 clubs on campus and get involved with the student senate, as well as get students accustomed to the American River College campus.
The Weeks of Welcome event runs from Tuesday, Jan. 21, through Friday, Feb. 21. For more information on upcoming events during the Weeks of Welcome visit the CLD or check the events calendar on the American River website.
