American River College’s lower library is scheduled to be reopened for both classes and faculty offices soon, according to Kaitlyn Collignon, ARC’s public information officer.
“Classes are expected to be returning this fall,” Collignon said. “Office-wise, people are likely to move in this summer.”
Classes and offices were relocated to other facilities on campus after a sewage leak caused the lower library to close in 2023.
Margaret Lednicky, ARC’s director of administrative services, says that work still needs to be done to the lower library.
“Replacing damaged drywall on the walls and the ceiling,” Lednicky said in an email to the Current. “New light fixtures on the hallway are also on the list of fixing, as well as new tile work in the restrooms.”
According to Lednicky, the faculty offices will be improved as well.
“The college will then follow up with new furniture for the offices,” Lednicky said.
