Brian King, chancellor of the Los Rios Community College District, was listed as a finalist for the chancellor position at the San Diego Community College District on Nov. 16, according to the SDCCD website.
The SSCCD web page includes a biography of King’s recent positions held within the community college system.
King spent nine years as the president/superintendent of Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz and has been the LRCCD chancellor since 2013.
There are two other candidates for the chancellor position. Daisy A. Gonzalez, deputy chancellor of the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office in Sacramento and Gregory Smith, the acting chancellor of SDCCD.
According to the SSCCD website, from Dec. 4-12 the district will conduct visits to the candidates’ home institution as part of the final vetting process.
On Dec. 14 a board of trustees meeting will take place and the district will choose the next chancellor. And in Jan. 2024, SSCCD will announce the next chancellor according to the SSCCD website.
