Voting for student elections now open
Voting will be held on eServices through April 26 from 5 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
The spring 2023 student elections for the Los Rios Community College District are being held through April 26 and can be done through eServices. Voting will be available from 5 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
According to the American River College website, currently enrolled students can go to eServices, click on the ‘Other Resources’ tab and then click on the ‘Elections & Surveys’ tab to get to the voting site.
Students at ARC can vote for local candidates for the student senate, and Club and Events Board, according to Brett Sawyer, student life supervisor at ARC.
“[The] senate has nine or ten students running, and CAEB has four,” Sawyer said. “Either fortunately or unfortunately, however you look at it, they are running unopposed, so there is no one both running for the same position.”
Sawyer says students can also vote for the Los Rios student trustee.
Information on the candidates can be found in the student voter guide.
According to Sawyer, voting can be done from some devices, but not others.
“We just learned that it does not work on iPads, but it works on laptops and phones,” Sawyer said.
Results will likely be announced a few days later.
“Typically it was always Friday because we had to wait for the district to confirm the student trustee candidate, but because there is only one we will probably know Thursday, probably Thursday afternoon,” Sawyer said.
Sawyer says that there are still open positions that can be filled.
“There are still open positions and they can be appointed in August,” Sawyer said.
