LRCCD offers students free parking
“We recognize the need to reduce the barriers for students who need to access college facilities”
The Los Rios Community College District has elected to give all LRCCD colleges free parking for students starting in the fall of 2021.
According to Scott Crow, American River College’s communications and public information officer, the decision to give students free parking was because on-campus offerings continue to be expanded.
“We recognize the need to reduce the barriers for students who need to access college facilities (including in-person classes or student support services) whenever feasible,” Crow said in an email to the Current.
Free parking will still be offered for students in the spring of 2022; parking permits will not be sold and students will not be ticketed for lack of permits, Crow added.
“However, students and employees will be required to park in designated student or staff parking spaces,” Crow said. “The Los Rios Police Department will enforce violations in red zones and other restricted areas, metered or timed parking, disabled parking and violations that impede traffic or block access.”
Crow says students don’t have to show any physical proof to park for free, they just have to follow the college’s parking guidelines.
