Two men were charged on Thursday in connection with the Sacramento City College shooting that occurred Sept. 3 and left one dead, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
The department said in a tweet posted on Dec. 29 that Tevita Kaihea, 19, and Charlie Hola,19, were arrested last Tuesday and both charged with attempted murder, discharge of a firearm with great bodily injury, participating in a criminal street gang and vehicle theft.
Rico Ridgeway, 25, was also arrested on Sept.4 for assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the altercation that led to the shooting.
SCC Public Information Officer Rick Brewer said that the school hoppes the arrests of the men involved can bring closure to those affected by the shooting.
“There has been a level of angst since the shooting occurred,” Brewer said. “I believe that knowing that those involved have been charged will allow people to properly move on.”
The shooting occurred in the campus parking lot along East Way and north of Sutterville Road after an altercation between the men escalated after a knife and gun were pulled.
Roman P. Gonzalez, 25, was fatally injured during the shooting.
Kaihea and Hola remain held, without bail, at the Sacramento County Main Jail and are slated to return to court on Wednesday.
