An earlier version of this story falsely reported that the end-of-the-year banquet will be held on May 5. In fact, it will be held on May 15.
The Associated Student Body Clubs and Events Board announced a dance competition that will take place at the end-of-the-year banquet that they will be throwing on May 15.
The banquet will include a dance competition, and the winner will win $100 for their club.
At least two participants from the club must participate to be eligible to win the cash prize. If the club’s adviser participates in the contest, the winner’s reward will increase by $50.
LeslieAnn Dameron, CAEB director of activities, outlined the competition.
“You can choreograph a dance with any style, but dirty dancing will be subjected to middle school rules, and you will be booted off the floor.
“We are not looking for talent, we’re looking for effort. I would like to remind everyone that moving is not dancing, dancing is grooving.”
Public Information Officer Scott Crow and Student Personnel Assistant Frankie Johnson will be guest speaking at the event.
Club participants need to reserve a spot to attend the event.
The event will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The board voted to give two incentive points to clubs for every member who volunteers to help out to clean the closet in the board meeting room that they share with the Associated Student Body Student Senate.
Tamara Dunning, who is acting as ASB Student Senate president, said that she would like for CAEB to contact Senate before going through with cleaning out the closet.
“Honestly, what we done in the past, it is sometimes hard to get members on our sister board to actually come out and clean,” said CAEB President Jeremy Diefenbacher.
Diefenbacher said that CAEB will need to vote on the item within the meeting before presenting it to the Senate.
